MISSION STATEMENT

To assist stroke survivors and their caregivers maintain and improve their overall quality of life, and good health, and help with their ongoing recovery and that they remain living independently.

      PROGRAMS:

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Adaptive physical exercise therapy supervised by a kinesiologist and qualified exercise instructors. 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Speech and conversation groups directed by a Registered Speech Language Pathologist

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP

Confidential, supportive caregiver support group share experiences and network.

PRESENTATIONS

Educational and Entertainment presentations, including speakers on relevant topics, music and table games.

SOCIAL INTERACTION

Weekly meetings of members creates a community of support. Experiences and current events are shared over coffee before programs, and during lunchs.

TURTLE TIMES

A Monthly news letter is published and emailed or handed out as a hard copy to members each month. Birthdays, upcoming events and the program for the weekly meeting is listed, which provides an overview of the activities for upcoming meetings.

MUSIC THERAPY

Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Music has nonverbal, creative, structural, and emotional qualities. These are used in the therapeutic relationship to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication, and personal development.
